Bicentennial Exhibit Development Internship Week 15

Hello! Here is this week’s update on my internship with the Bicentennial Exhibit Development project:

This was the last official week of the spring internships, which was very bittersweet! I have enjoyed working on this project so much, and I have learned more than I could have ever imagined before starting this internship.

Since my last update, the team turned in our final deadline materials! This included our revised narrative text, object label draft designs, and narrative text design drafts. Our revisions on the narrative text may not end up being the finalized version that will accompany the displays in the gallery space, but we worked to revise the text as much as we could before the end of the internship period for the spring semester. There are opportunities for students (including our semester's team) to volunteer over the summer to continue to work setting up the gallery space for the exhibit's opening, so I am assuming that is how the rest of the materials will be finalized. I have heard that the other two undergraduate interns may volunteer to stay on, however I will be unable to because of a very busy summer schedule! I look forward to seeing updates and when the gallery eventually opens in early July. As the semester comes to a close, I will be sending a final update to Dr. Crepeau informing him of all of the items we created during the project, so that he can see our progress on the exhibit.

This week, the team had to create a slideshow presentation to prepare for the Internship Showcase on April 24. I created a template presentation and shared it with the other interns so that we could plug our information in. We chose to have me introduce the project during the presentation as team lead, and then we were to discuss our individual experiences on the project. After working on our slides individually, the team met over Zoom to discuss our final thoughts on the semester's project, and to do a quick run through of our presentation to prepare as a team before Friday. This was a great final meeting for the project, and I appreciated the time for us as a team to reflect on our experiences creating an exhibit like this!

The Internship Showcase went very smoothly, and we had a great time presenting our information to everyone. I always enjoy hearing what all of the other interns in the History Department did during the semester.

As this is my last blog post, I will just say that overall in the course of this semester I had such an amazing experience in this position and I am so very grateful for the opportunity to work on this project with such an amazing and hard-working team!

I will be graduating in May, but I look forward to seeing the updates on the project and being involved at UCF post-graduation!

Thank you for keeping up with my internship blogs!
